Every embossing seal we produce starts with the same question: which die size does this company actually need? Most first-time buyers have never had to think about it — a seal is a seal, until you're holding one that's either too small for your logo or too bulky for your desk drawer. There are two standard sizes, and the photo above shows exactly what the difference looks like in person: our M1 and M2 Pocket Seal presses, side by side.

M1 — The 1.58" Standard

The M1 uses a 1-5/8 inch (41mm) round die plate — the compact, everyday choice. It's built for the standard company seal: your company name, state, and RC registration number, arranged in the classic circular format banks and legal practitioners expect to see. Because the press body is smaller, it's also the more portable option — easy to carry between offices, or to keep in a desk drawer without it taking over the space.

If your seal's job is simply to authenticate documents the way CAMA and your bank expect — nothing more elaborate than that — the M1 is very likely all you need.

M2 — The 2" Large-Format

The M2 steps up to a 2 inch (50–51mm) round die plate. That extra real estate matters when your seal design isn't simple — a company logo worked into the design, a longer legal name, additional registration details, or any text that would feel cramped on the smaller plate. The larger die also presses a more visible, more dramatic raised impression into the page, which some organisations specifically want for the weight it visually carries on a signed document.

The Detail Most People Miss: Dies Aren't Interchangeable

Here's the part that catches people off guard: an M1 die will not fit into an M2 press, and an M2 die will not fit into an M1 press. Not with force, not with an adapter — the two mechanisms are built to different tolerances from the ground up. Choosing a size isn't a cosmetic decision you can quietly correct later; it's a decision the physical hardware locks in from day one.

It's the same principle as cutting a key to the wrong lock — close enough to look right in your hand, useless the moment it actually needs to work. That's exactly why we ask about your seal's content and intended use before production begins, not after — a five-minute conversation at the start saves a customer from discovering, weeks later, that their logo doesn't fit the plate they already paid for.

Which One Should You Order?

  • Choose M1 if your seal is company name, state, and RC number only, and portability matters to you.
  • Choose M2 if you need a logo, a longer name, or extra text on the plate, or you specifically want a larger, more prominent impression.
